Changes Day to Day
Brian Fridley talks about his role in High Steel Structures' Engineering Department.
We use the design drawings to create shop drawings for the bridge industry. As a supervisor, I make sure the accuracy of the shop drawings is where it needs to be. We interpret the designs, we send out RFIs.
What I like most about my job is the fact that it changes from day to day. You may have different scenarios between different jobs that may require you to do things a little bit differently from time to time.
Usually once a month all of us would go out to the shop just to see some of the projects that are being fabricated, to see some of the bridges that are going to be eventually erected in the field. So that gives us a little bit of an insight as to what it looks like before it goes into the field.
