About Us

The High Foundation Guidelines

The High Foundation

The High Foundation contributes only to non-political, non-profit (501[c]3) organizations.  The Foundation focuses the majority of its contributions in the Lancaster County and South Central Pennsylvania regions.  Contributions in other geographic areas where the High® companies are located may also be considered.

Neither contributions nor loans are made to individuals.  The Foundation also has a scholarship program that is open solely to those individuals whose parent(s) is/are employed by the High companies.

The Foundation is most interested in capital building projects and generally contributes in the categories of education, religion, social services, and cultural enrichment, with the current focus being on creating affordable housing and eliminating homelessness.

Operational contributions are more often addressed by the High companies corporate donations.

Requests must be received by November 1st to be considered at the Foundation’s year-end meeting.  Proposals shall include the following information in order to be included:

  • Project scope including budget.
  • Background information on the organization/association (including contact name and telephone number).
  • Project benefits and how outcome will be measured.
  • Amount requested.
  • 990 PF tax return.  If this is not available, financial statements identifying sources and uses of funds will be accepted.
  • IRS determination letter that the organization is considered or registered as a 501[c]3 charitable organization.

A status letter will be sent to the applicant usually within two months of submitting a request.  Selected requests are reviewed at the year-end meeting and distribution of funds to the final selected recipients occurs in the first quarter of the following year.  A request held until the year-end review indicates only that the request falls within the Foundation’s scope.  It does not indicate that a monetary donation will be made.
